STORIA DELLA CANZONE: “Witchcraft” venne composta da Dave Bartholomew e da Pearl King anche se Chuck Carbo, degli Spiders, afferma di aver scritto egli stesso le parole e che Bartholomew avrebbe acquistato il testo della canzone.
La musica deriverebbe, secondo Carbo, dal successo degli Spiders del 1953 “I didn’t want to do it” che raggiunse il secondo posto della classifica di Rhythm’n’Blues.
In ogni caso, la prima registrazione di “Witchcraft” avvenne da parte degli stessi Spiders (che era un gruppo originario di New Orleans) nel luglio del 1955; la loro esecuzione arrivò settima nella classifica di Rhythm’n’Blues.
