STORIA DELLA CANZONE: “Padre” venne scritta dai francesi Jacques Larue e Alain Romans; le parole inglesi sono di Paul Francis Webster.
Lola Dee assieme a Stubby And Buccaneers, nel 1954, registrò “Padre” per la prima volta anche se la prima incisione col testo francese (dal titolo “Padre Don José”) è quella di Rina Ketty del 1952.
La versione che ebbe più successo, però, fu quella di Toni Arden del 1958 che vendette oltre un milione di copie raggiungendo il tredicesimo posto nella Hot 100 di Billboard.
Nel 1970 anche Marty Robbins ebbe un discreto successo con questo brano poichè arrivò fino al 5° gradino nella graduatoria Country.
