si tratta di un’incisione informale eseguita da Elvis in una delle sue case ad Hollywood.
STORIA DELLA CANZONE: l’autore compose il brano nel 1933. Non è facile stabilire chi per primo lo registrò. Forse fu Fats Waller nel 1935. Anche Freddy Ellis and His Orchestra l’incise nel 1936. Fra le numerose registrazioni di “It’s a sin to tell a lie” ci sono anche quelle di Billie Holiday, Vera Lynn, Tony Bennett (1964), Bobbi Martin e Brent Spiner. Nel 1955 Somethin’ Smith and The Redheads la portarono al 7° posto della classifica di Billboard. In tempi più recenti John Denver ne registrò una sua versione che è disponibile nell’album “Live at the Sidney Opera House”. La versione che Elvis canta nella sua casa di Rocca Place è basata su quella degli Ink Spots.
