ALTRE NOTIZIE MUSICALI: nella sua registrazione, Elvis ripete continuamente il verso finale, lasciando fuori parte del testo originale di Darin:
«I’ll miss you and in my dreams I’ll kiss you and wish you luck on your new affair and so, baby, if you need me, all you have to do is call me and don’t you worry, darling, I’ll be there» («Mi mancherai e, nei miei sogni, ti bacerò e ti auguro buona fortuna per il tuo nuovo rapporto e, perciò, se avrai bisogno di me, tutto ciò che dovrai fare, sarà chiamarmi e, non ti preoccupare, cara, ci sarò»).
Inoltre, il titolo completo della canzone è “I’ll be there (if you ever want me)” [“Ci sarò (se mai mi vorrai)”].
Al tempo della prima pubblicazione, erano segnati, erroneamente, come autori Gabbard e Price.
Il 15 ottobre 1980, negli studi Young ‘un Sound, a Nashville, Tennessee, venne rifatta la base musicale di questa canzone per una sua eventuale inclusione nell’album “Guitar man”, cosa che poi non avvenne.
La reincisione ha il numero di master KWA5-8559.
Il brano venne pubblicato nel 2000 dalla label Follow That Dream Records.
STORIA DELLA CANZONE: Bobby Darin scrisse e registrò questa canzone il 22 luglio 1959 e venne pubblicata esattamente un anno dopo (Atco 6167), portandola al 79° posto nella Hot 100 di Billboard.
Tre anni dopo, Tony Orlando incise una cover (Epic 9622, edita nel 1964) ma il più grande successo lo ebbero Gerry and The Pacemakers che arrivarono al 14° gradino in classifica nel 1963 (Laurie 3279).
