La “Cajun Records“, che qualche anno fa pubblicò un CD del genere, ha appena emesso questa versione in un’epoca nella quale il 33 giri è tornato in auge (chi lo avrebbe mai detto !).
Logicamente il compact disc include lo stesso materiale del vinile.

Una sconosciuta etichetta ha annunciato un triplo CD che si preannuncia interessante: includerà i tre concerti (registrati fra il pubblico) a Honolulu, isole Hawaii, la sera del 17 e il pomeriggio e la sera del 18 novembre 1972.
Solo quello serale del giorno 18 era stato pubblicato fino ad oggi (“Live At The H.I.C.“, 2004, etichetta “White Star“).
Lo spettacolo serale del 17 circolava su un paio di CD-r (“Live in Honolulu” e “From Memphis to Honolulu“) mentre quello pomeridiano del 18 sul CD.r “Honolulu delight“.
Speriamo che il produttore non abbia semplicemente preso e sbattuto su silver disc queste registrazioni: l’annuncio dichiara (e non poteva, però, fare altrimenti…) che il tutto è stato rimasterizzato completamente… Speriamo bene !

La “Petticoat” ha annunciato un cofanetto che include un LP di color verde, un CD, una foto di 25×25 cm e due poster della dimensione A3.
Siamo di fronte a 19 registrazione che Elvis eseguì a Waco, Texas, durante la sua visita all’amico Eddie Fadal, mentre era in licenza militare. Ovviamente queste incisioni non erano destinate alla commercializzazione ma qualcuno incise tutto su un comune registratore….
Questo materiale esordì nel lontano 1978 all’interno del mitico LP pirata “Forever young, forever beautiful“.
In questo cofanetto ascoltiamo acnhe qualche canzone registrata, sempre a livello privato, in Germania mentre prestava il servizio miltare.

Il primo s’intitolerà “Live in Concert – March 16th and 17th 1974 Mid-South Coliseum” e sarà gatefold (colori nero oppure blu); il contenuto è, logicamente, quello dei due spettacoli che Elvis tenne a Memphis il 16 e 17 marzo 1974.
Sarà presente, come bonus, un 45 giri intitolato “Why me, Lord ?“.
Il secondo LP avrà, invece, come titolo “Live in Concert – March 14th and 19th 1974 Murfreesboro” e saranno presenti gli spettacoli del 14 e del 19 marzo 1974 a Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Il colore dei vinili potrà essere nero o blu ed anche in questo caso sarà incluso un singolo come bonus, intitolato “Let me be there”.
Le note di copertina sono state scritte da Jean-Etienne Baudel e l’artwork è a cura di Dag Andersen.
I concerti sono stati rimasterizzati presso i Norfolk Studio’s e sono stati stampati nei Paesi Bassi. I nuovi album presentano il concerto nel “miglior suono stereo di sempre e alla velocità corretta”, secondo il testo pubblicitario.
Ovviamente siamo di fronte a materiale che era già stato pubblicato in precedenza.

Grazie al successo della prima uscita esclusiva in Liquid-Vinyl dello storico primo singolo di Elvis, “That’s All Right / Blue Moon of Kentucky”, il seguito “Good Rockin’ Tonight / I Don’t Care If The Sun Don’t Shine” avrà una propria uscita su Liquid Vinyl, in questo mese di settembre.
Questa speciale versione in vinile liquido di Sun 210 da 10 pollici a 78 giri è limitata a 125 copie in tutto il mondo. I vinili contengono un liquido a due colori, che si abbina perfettamente ai colori della SUN, che si muove all’interno del vinile.
Ognuno di questi vinili unici è fatto a mano e richiede un’ora di lavoro per essere prodotto. Hanno anche i numeri incisi originali inclusi nei lati delle canzoni e sono di gran lunga la più notevole replica SUN realizzata.
GOLDEN ELVIS !
La francese “RDM-Edition” ha aggiunto al proprio sito web i dettagli e le anteprime del nuovo CD “Golden Elvis”. Questo CD contiene i primi due volumi della serie “Golden Records” di Elvis in nuovi mix Mono II Stereo. L’uscita del CD è prevista per il 30 settembre 2024.
Ancora la “MRS” con una budget release
Il 22 novembre prossimo, la fin troppo prolifica etichetta inglese “Memphis Recording Service” pubblicherà, in formato economico, il triplo CD “The Complete Private Recordings” che aveva già visto la luce nel 2019.
Il CD contiene registrazioni personali tratte da un nastro realizzato da Elvis mentre era di stanza con l’esercito americano in Germania nel gennaio 1959. Include anche le prime interpretazioni di canzoni che Elvis avrebbe registrato formalmente anni dopo.
La pubblicazione è accompagnata da un piccolo libretto.
“Elvis’ Christmas album” in due colorazioni di vinile marmorizzato
Il 27 settembre 2024 è prevista la (ri)pubblicazione da parte dell’etichetta discografica tedesca “Second Records” di un’edizione in vinile 180 gr. marmorizzato rosso e uno marmorizzato oro di “Elvis’ Christmas Album”. Entrambe le edizioni sono limitate a 500 copie.
Nel 2023 abbiamo già avuto un’edizione rossa, nera e picture disc di questo LP…
Magic Vinyl box
La “Music On Vinyl” ha pubblicato il triplo LP “Magic Vinyl box” che include il primo LP “Elvis Presley”, “Songbook with Friends” e “G.I. in Germany“.
Si tratta di tre vinili da 180 grammi colorati (vedi foto).
Secondo l’annuncio del produttore, qualche cofanetto scelto a caso, includerà un articolo a sorpresa…
“Elvis’ golden records” in stereo
Dopo l’annuncio della pubblicazione dei set in vinile dei concerti dal vivo del 1974, l’etichetta discografica “World Records / TCB Tapes” di Erik Lorentzen, ha annunciato l’uscita di nuove edizioni stereo dei volumi da 1 a 4 di “Elvis’ Golden Records” in vinile su 4 album. Sul sito si legge “coming soon”.
Inoltre, è elencata una nuova versione stereo di “Elvis Live at Burbank Studios Stand-up Shows”, volumi da 1 a 4 (4 album). Tutti mixati dai migliori tecnici del suono dei Norfolk Studios, secondo l’aggiornamento.

Logicamente si tratta di una domanda retorica e provocatoria.
Siamo di fronte ad un proliferare di emissioni, grazie al ritorno in auge del vinile, che forse non ha eguali in nessun altro artista.
“Never ending demand“, come recitava una serie di CD bootleg qualche anno fa…
Oppure “Unfinished business“, sempre citato un vecchio bootleg, stavolta in LP…
Tributo di Colin Paul
L’etichetta danese “Memphis Mansion” ha appena pubblicato un maxi-single in vinile con un tributo ad Elvis, intitolato “Old Friend” da parte di Colin Paul.
Il disco include anche “King Creole” e “Love Me Tender” cantate da Elvis.

Gli autori John Townson e Gordon Minto hanno pubblicato il libro di 228 pagine “ELVIS UK 78 r.p.m. The Ultimate Guide To Elvis Presley’s British 78s 1956-1960”.

Libro “How The Web Was Woven”
Peter Critchley ha pubblicato il libro di 397 pagine “How the Web was Woven: Essays in Celebration of Elvis Presley, the Heart Singer”.
Questo nuovo libro di 397 pagine con copertina morbida (con un sottotitolo un po’ inquietante) è descritto come una raccolta di saggi su Elvis Presley, che sottolinea il suo significato culturale e musicale.
La raccolta è chiusa da saggi che sottolineano l’importanza di Elvis come liberatore, come democratico piuttosto che come re, e da saggi che vedono la scomparsa di Elvis come la scomparsa di una cultura individualista, narcisista e, in definitiva, solipsista e sterile.
Nel mezzo, ci sono saggi che rivalutano parti trascurate o non apprezzate della carriera di Elvis, le canzoni “perdute” del 1963 e del 1964, la fase country rock del 1967 e del 1968, le imponenti sessioni di Nashville del 1970 e del 1971, il country soul della Stax del ’73 e, infine, le sessioni di Graceland del 1976.

Libro “La legende”
L’edizione francese di “Elvis-The Legend: The Authorized Book from the Graceland Archives” (2022), intitolata ‘Elvis La Legende’, sarà ripubblicata in edizione cartonata di 192 pagine il 31 ottobre 2024 dall’editore francese L Imprevu.
Libro “Destination Louisville – June 26, 1974”
Jon Daly ha annunciato l’uscita del libro in formato A4 “Destination Louisville – June 26, 1974”, scritto da Arjan Deelen e con un contributo di Duke Bardwell.
Possiamo vedere Elvis prima dello spettacolo, durante il concerto e dopo il termine dell’esibizione. Molte delle foto sono primi piani e nitidissime. Elvis indossava il suo bellissimo costume “Peacock“, che all’epoca era nuovo di zecca.
Durante questa tournée Elvis fece dei grandi spettacoli e in questo libro è come viverli tutti. Oltre a circa 100 foto inedite, questo libro contiene anche la documentazione dello spettacolo proveniente dall’ufficio del Colonnello Parker, ritagli di giornale e altri cimeli.
Include anche la commovente storia del fan che ha scattato queste foto dalla prima fila.
Duke Bardwell, che all’epoca era il bassista di Elvis, ha messo su carta i suoi ricordi appositamente per questo libro. Questa pubblicazione offre ai lettori un’immagine unica di quel periodo.
