CELLULOID SELL-OUT! (libro con due CD)
Libro e doppio CD che in 448 ripercorre attraverso foto, documenti, dettaglie sopratutto memorabilia, i primi films di Elvis, dal 1956 al 1958: “Love me tender”, “Loving you”, “Jailhouse rock” e “King Creole”.
Il doppio CD propone le sondtracks dei medesimi films. Ad oggi, la tracklist dei dischetti è ancora ignota.
G.I. BLUES – DELUXE MOVIE EDITION – PART I, II & III
La fin troppo prolifica etichetta olandese “ElvisOne” commercializza tre CD inerenti alla colonna sonora di “GI Blues”.
Nella parte 1 troviamo la extended soundtrack con le movie versions originali e il music score dal film. Presenti molte incisioni strumentali, mai pubblicate su album prima d’ora.
La parte 2 propone la monophonic sound edition con tutti i mono masters, movie recordings, un demo e diversi annunci promozionali del film. Per la prima volta ascolteremo gli undubbed movie masters di ‘Big Boots‘, ‘Shoppin’ Around‘ e “Frankfurt Special“, ‘Shoppin’ Around’ (finale) take 14, “Whistling Blues” e una versione strumentale di ‘Shoppin’ Around’.
La parte 3 offre invece la stereophonic sound edition pon tutti i stereo masters originali, una buona collezione di outtakes, l’album master di ‘Didja Ever!‘ (con la completa take 2 con tanto di count-in), le versioni complete di ‘Tonight Is So Right For Love‘ (“Barcarolle“) e ‘Tonight’s All Right For Love‘ (“Tales From The Vienna Woods“).
Ogni CD sarà corredato da un libretto di 12 pagine ricco di dati, info e foto.
Si tratterà di una tiratura limitata a 500 copie.

Che considerazioni si possono fare…?
Sono dei CD copiati da altri CD emessi in passato…
Questa fin troppo prolifica etichetta (che ha belle copertine, non c’è che dire) non fa altro che proporci materiale già emesso.
Intendiamoci: si tratta di una bella occasione per chi si era perso questi spettacoli in passato ma, in questi tempi di riciclaggio, la mia speranza era di vedere delle riproposte di CD di una volta, che oramai sono di impossibile reperibilità, ma qui siamo di fronte a materiale emesso da poco tempo…
Faccio un esempio: il bellissimo spettacolo di Cincinnati del 25 giugno 1977, è un trentennio che non viene più riproposto… Personalmente ce l’ho in due vinili e, se lo emettono in CD, lo prenderei. La cosa era stata già fatta, per carità, ma ormai sono passati numerosi anni…
Chi ha realmente “bisogno” di materiale emesso solo da un paio d’anni, tre al massimo ???

BLACK STAR in CD
“Black Star” venne pubblicato in un maxi 45 EP nel lontanissimo 1988 e non vide mai la sua trasposizione in compact disc.
Per la prima volta si poté ascoltare il master di “Black Star”, incisa nell’agosto 1960 per la colonna sonora di “Flaming star” ma subito sostituita, per esigenze di copione, con “Flaming star”, incisa due mesi dopo.
In questo CD ritroviamo ora l’album originale più alcuni bonus

Addio a Laurel Goodwin
Nata a Wichita, Kansas, l’11 agosto del 1942, si trasferì in seguito a San Diego e a San Francisco. Debuttò al cinema con Elvis nel 1962 in “Girls! Girls! Girls!” per poi recitare anche in altre pellicole ma senza sfondare del tutto. Lavorò anche in serie televisive per ritirarsi nel 1971.
La Goodwin ha perseguito una carriera di infermiera a domicilio per oltre 35 anni. Quando suo marito si ammalò, iniziò a prendersi cura di lui a tempo pieno fino alla sua morte, avvenuta circa un anno e mezzo dopo.
Goodwin è deceduta a Cathedral City, California, il 25 febbraio 2022, all’età di 79 anni.

Il remix ‘A Little Less Conversation’ dell’olandese disc jokey JXL, ha ottenuto il doppio platino dalla British Phonographic Industry (B.P.I.) per aver venduto oltre 1,200,000 copie (sia fisiche che in digitale e streaming) dal 26 dicembre 2004 ad oggi.

Che dire ? I collezionisti di materiale video, dopo tanti anni di nulla assoluto, hanno di che sbizzarrirsi…
Siamo al capito 14, appena annunciato, della serie “Sold out!” che presenta due DVD con materiale filmato amatorialmente negli anni ’70.
Personalmente ritengo, di base, questi bootlegs carissimi perchè ricordiamoci che qua non si pagano diritti d’autore… Oltre 40 euro, sono davvero tanti…
E poi, le “cartucce” migliori, le hanno sparate all’inizio… Adesso la loro qualità è scesa. Com’è logico che sia, del resto…
Non voglio “tarpare le ali” a nessuno, per carità… Sembra, d’altro canto, che in totale possano essere 20 volumi…
