“The wonder of you” fu la prima canzone dal vivo di Elvis ad essere emessa su 45 giri.
Nella registrazione del midnight show del 18 febbraio 1970, inspiegabilmente pubblicata nel CD “Elv1s 30 #1 hits”, Elvis cambia il testo. Invece di cantare “You give me hope and consolation, you give me strenght to carry on” canta “You give me love and consolation, you give me hope to carry on” nel primo verso mentre nel secondo, invece di cantare “your kiss to me is worth a fortune” dice “your love to me is worth a fortune”.
NOTE DISCOGRAFICHE: nel CD delle BMG inglese “The live greatest hits” (74321 847082), edito nel 2001, è presente la performance del 13 agosto 1970, durante il dinner show, all’International Hotel di Las Vegas, Nevada.

STORIA DELLA CANZONE: “The wonder of you” venne composta per Perry Como ma la RCA offrì la canzone a Ray Peterson che la registrò nel 1959. Il suo disco raggiunse il 25° posto nella classifica americana nell’estate di quello stesso anno ed il 70° nel 1964, in una sua riedizione.
Elvis chiese allo stesso Peterson se avesse potuto registrare la canzone e Ray gli rispose: “Non devi chiedere il permesso: tu sei Elvis Presley !” ed Elvis: “Sì, ma tu sei Ray Peterson !”.
