“Put your hand in the hand” fu registrata per la prima volta da Beth Moore all’inizio del 1971 ma furono gli Ocean ad avere un grosso successo alla fine dello stesso anno, arrivando fino al 2° posto della classifica americana.
Anche Anne Murray riscosse un discreto successo sempre nello stesso anno e Shirley Caesar vinse un Grammy Award come miglior interpretazione soul, anch’essa nel 1971.
