Doppio CD che esamina forse uno degli album più belli, Elvis is back, pubblicato originariamente dalla RCA nel 1960 e frutto delle sedute di registrazione di marzo/aprile 1960 nello studio B della RCA a Nashville.
Si tratta di un’edizione in formato 7 pollici triple fold out cover con libretto allegato.
Nel dicembre del 2011, venne pubblicata anche una versione in due LP, intitolata “The Elvis Is Back Sessions” (506020-975030).

È l’album che nel 1960 celebra il ritorno alla vita civile da parte di Elvis dopo il servizio militare.
Grande LP per un grande ritorno: tanto buon blues e delle ottime ballate che presentano al mondo un Elvis “diverso”: non più il rocker di poco tempo prima ma un artista più maturo e completo.
Ottimo il lavoro svolto in studio dai musicisti, primo fra tutti il sax di Boots Randolph.
È veramente un album per tutti i gusti questo “Is Back!“: la splendida The Girl Of My Best Friend, la storica Fever cantata in modo sensuale come solo Elvis poteva, il buon blues Reconsider Baby e l’altrettanto ottimo It Feels So right così come Like A Baby, la swingante Such A Night, la particolare Girl Next Door Went A Walking ed infine le ballate, magnifiche, di I Will Be Home Again in uno splendido duetto Presley/Hodge supportato da una buona chitarra ritmica, la tenera Thrill Of Your Love, la quasi autobiografica Soldier Boy, rendono questo album una pietra miliare della discografia del nostro.
Nelle alternate takes presenti per ciascuna canzone in questo favoloso FTD, ci ritroviamo immersi nello studio B di Nashville durante i lavori preparatori dell’album (e naturalmente dei singoli che ne anticiparono l’uscita), dove l’Elvis genuino dei primissimi sixties viene fuori in tutta la sua prorompente freschezza.
